Liberal
Democrats
WINNING IN BARTON
Local
campaigner Michael Steed is the Liberal
Democrat candidate in the Barton Ward byelection
on Thursday 10th July.
Michael
has been actively involved with the Oaten
Hill and District Society - the local community
organisation which campaigns to protect
our local environment. He has campaigned
to save the local Post Office and helped
prevent green land at Nackington from being
swallowed up by concrete.
The
byelection is caused by the resignation
of popular and hard-working Lib Dem Cllr
Lee Glendon who has had to move away due
to work. Lee says “Michael will make
a great councillor. He has a proven record
of working for local causes and is the right
man for the job. I shall be working flat
out to make sure Micheal gets the opportunity
to carry-on where I have left off.”
LABOUR
PULL OUT OF BARTON BALLOT
The
tiny local Labour party have decided not
to put forward a candidate in Barton. They
have no councillors at all in Canterbury
and came miles behind the other parties
in Barton at the last election. Barton is
a straight race between the local Liberal
Democrat campaigner Michael Steed and the
student who has been put up by the Tories.
