LibDem-run
Canterbury rated "Excellent"
Government
inspectors put City Council in top 5 nationally
By
Alex Perkins,
Liberal Democrat Canterbury City Council Leader
The announcement by the Audit Commision's CPA (Comprehensive
Performance Assessment) team that Canterbury City
Council scored an incredible 52 out of a possible
60 marks and thus rated "Excellent" in its
recent review has delighted local LibDems. “We
are overjoyed to receive this news and will now work
even harder to make sure we continue to deliver a
first class service,” said LibDem Council Leader
Alex Perkins. “We seized control
of this authority from NOC two years ago and have
been fighting to put local people first ever since.”
Canterbury was one of the CPA pathfinder group that
volunteered to take the CPA test early in order to
set the national standard. “We fully expect
to be the top authority in Kent and possibly the South
East” said Alex. "To have picked up such
a high mark is a tribute to all of our hardworking
Libdem councillors and to the excellent staff at the
City Council.”

City Council website.
The future looks bright for Canterbury LibDems. Canterbury
constituency have just appointed Jenny
Barnard-Langston from Brighton as their new PPC,
and despite living life in the shadow of neighbouring
Michael Howard’s LibDem target seat of Shepway
are forging forward and building on their success
at last May's elections.
