Fantastic

LibDems
claim victory in Canterbury
By
Alex Perkins, Liberal Democrat
Canterbury City Council Leader
Thank you
to every one who voted for the local LibDem Focus
Team in the May 2003 City Council elections. LibDem
majorities increased across the district
and we won seats from both Labour
and the Conservatives.
In the City of Canterbury alone you elected 10
LibDems, just 2 Conservatives and 2 Labour
Councillors. LibDems Alex Perkins
and Nick Eden-Green are
Council Leader and Lord
Mayor respectively.
Boundary changes in practically every ward locally
meant that the Tories had a headstart in several
wards, but thanks to your support the LibDems increased
the number of local Liberal Democrat FOCUS
Team Councillors across the district to
19.
Despite their endless boasts the Conservatives
failed to get enough seats to take control
of your local Council. That means the district is
safe from destructive Tory control for another four
years.
You said it yourselves - Where We Win -
You Win!
